Het is voor het bedrijf de eerste pilot met CO\u2082-afvang bij een AEC. Met de pilot wil Carbon8 demonstreren hoe haar systeem, de CO\u2082ntainer, vliegas uit een AEC kan combineren met afgevangen CO\u2082, om zo een materiaal te produceren voor gebruik in de bouwsector.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_image_0 et_pb_image et_pb_module et_block_module\"><span class=\"et_pb_image_wrap\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/avr.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/20181106-avr-plant-duiven-016_wide.jpg\" title=\"20181106-avr-plant-duiven-016_wide\" \/><\/span><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_3 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module db-content-vervolg\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>Bij de installatie in Duiven wordt sinds een jaar\u00a0CO\u2082 afgevangen, dat vervolgens wordt geleverd aan de glastuinbouw. Daarmee wordt circa 15 procent van de CO\u2082-uitstoot afgevangen. Voor de rest van de CO\u2082-uitstoot worden andere oplossingen ontwikkeld, waar de proef met Carbon8 dus onderdeel van is. Naar verwachting zal de pilot zo'n 100 ton van het bouwmateriaal produceren, met de mogelijkheid in de toekomst meer\u00a0CO\u2082 van de installatie te gebruiken. Gezien het niveau van de rookgasuitstoot van AEC's en de hoge kosten van het storten van as ziet het bedrijf aanzienlijke zakelijke kansen voor haar techniek, in Europa en wereldwijd.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_image_1 et_pb_image et_pb_module et_block_module\"><span class=\"et_pb_image_wrap\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/avr.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/avr-carbon8-crop_medium.jpg\" title=\"avr-carbon8-crop_medium\" \/><\/span><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_4 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><i>AVR Duiven start samen met het Britse bedrijf Carbon8 een pilot waarbij afgevangen\u00a0CO\u2082 met vliegas wordt gecombineerd tot een nieuwe grondstof voor de bouw, een soort grind.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_5 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module db-content-vervolg\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>Paula Carey, mede-oprichter en technisch directeur van Carbon8 Systems: \"In nauwe samenwerking met AVR, op basis van onze ervaring met de cementindustrie en na positieve resultaten van laboratoriumtests, streven we naar een tweefasenstrategie voor het inzetten van onze technologie in de wereldwijde afvalenergiesector: eerst een proefproject uitvoeren en dan, indien succesvol, in commerci\u00eble exploitatie nemen.
